YEMA's passion for the motorsports world, and more particularly for legendary French rally cars like Renault’s 5 Turbo hatch icon from the 1980’s, is embodied in this new Rallye 5 Turbo Limited Edition. The aesthetics of this original chronograph, equipped with an ETA Valjoux 7753 caliber, draws its inspiration from the main design elements that have made the success and reputation of the R5 Turbo.
The Bôle family has a long watchmaking history spanning over several decades. This legacy is now managed by the third generation, YEMA’s Managing Director and Head of Design, Christopher Bôle.
" Motorsports has always been one of our greatest sources of inspiration when designing our chronographs. The R5 Turbo hatchback dashboard, steering wheel and interior colours were clear examples of creative risk-taking in terms of design at the time.
First, I started drawing an immediately recognisable dial reminiscent of the very singular steering wheel shape of the 1st generation R5 Turbo, as well as chronograph’s counters and hands retaining the characteristic design codes of the car’s dashboard. I then provided profound dial depth by stacking 4 distinct vertical layers: the applied markers, the main dial, the “sandwich” sub-dial and a recessed dial.
To complete the design, I imagined a new steel case specially designed for this Rallye, pushers resembling engine pistons and a choice of colours respectful of the 1980’s R5 Turbo. “

Textured gray dial with a sand-blasted effect reminiscent of race track asphalt, in elegant contrast with the matt black recessed sub-dial and the brushed steel bezel.
The race track asphalt’s gray dial colour naturally develops dark shades depending on light conditions.

The Rallye 5 Turbo 39mm case has been completely redesigned while preserving balanced and rather sleek dimensions for an automatic chronograph, with its 12mm thickness and 48mm lug-to-lug to ensure an amazing wrist presence.
This new case features slightly sharper angles and bevels, all in a refined polished finish. The chronograph’s striated/polished pushers resembling engine pistons reinforce the rally spirit of the chronograph.
Steel bezel in circular brushed finish in contrast with the polished steel case. Designed for motorsports and speed, the Rallye's tachymetric scale bezel allows you to calculate your average speed over a given distance.

Over the past two years, YEMA has made significant investments aimed at insourcing a good part of its production and constantly improving the quality of its manufacturing processes by using new equipment as well as expanding and modernising its workshops and production lines.
In addition, the Franco-Swiss Jura region being increasingly integrated, YEMA now works with new local partners to secure a more responsible and higher quality production. DANS LA PRESSE
YEMA's signature #TimeofHeroes dates from 1970. It reflects the history and values of the brand and what it stands for. It tells the adventures of remarkable sportsmen and explorers who have achieved the extraordinary under the most extreme conditions with a YEMA timepiece on their wrist.
Among the first competition cars Renault ever turbocharged, the Renault 5 Turbo was designed in the 1980’s in response to Lancia's rallying dominance with the mid-engined Stratos. The distinctive new rear bodywork was styled by Marc Deschamps at Bertone, headed by Chief Designer Marcello Gandini, the man who also designed its Stratos arch-rival, not to mention dozens of other stone-cold classics, among them the Lamborghini Miura. The R5 Turbo is unquestionably Renault’s most exotic and most remarkable vintage hatchback. With its 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine and 160bhp output, the R5 Turbo was the most powerful production car to emanate from France back in the 1980’s.
