In the early 1960's, YEMA started to work on a professional dive watch project designed for the general public. In 1963 YEMA proudly launched the very first 990 feet water resistant non-military dive watch, something revolutionary at that time, hence the nickname Superman.
This Superman Heritage 63 Limited Edition pays tribute to the historic model by recreating the original design and the professional diving features which have nowadays become essential on most dive watches. The screw-down crown, the crown guards and YEMA's proprietary bezel-lock designed as a triple safety when underwater, made of the Superman an unique diver back in the 1960's.
In line with YEMA's Heritage collection spirit, this reissue features a sapphire bezel reminiscent of the vintage acrylic / bakelite ones, as well as the iconic “shovel” seconds hand of the Superman.
Les aiguilles et les index sont revêtus de Super-LumiNova. La Superman héritage Blue offre donc une parfaite lisibilité dans l'obscurité.
This Swiss movement is mostly recognised for its reliability. With 26 Ruby jewels, it beats at 28,800 A/h and offers a power reserve of 38 hours
The unidirectional sapphire count-up bezel with black aluminium insert ensures an unique retro look similar to the vintage models
The unique Superman bezel-lock at 3 o'clock has proven very useful to professional divers and is found on all Superman models since 1963
The Superman Heritage 63 features a high-quality double domed sapphire crystal offering better readability underwater as well as enhanced resistance
The 1970's iconic chromed seconds hand with its head shaped like a shovel adds a distinct Heritage touch to this historic reissue

The 316L Steel caseback proudly displays YEMA's historic crest beautifully embossed with a hydraulic press. Each of the two diameter variants is engraved with a unique number from 0001 to 1000.
The "Skin Diver" mention pays tribute to YEMA's first dive watches from the 1950's which inspired the creation of the Superman 1963 dial.

This is my fifth contemporary Superman in the heritage line and I love it. The dial and the bracelet makes it stand apart from the other designs. Also, the bracelet looks really cool. It is a really great performer out of the box at a rate of +2 seconds per day since I got it. Overall it feels well built and the new design with the threads of the crown on the outside of the ”shaft” feels secure. The bezel lock on this is a bit more loose when unscrewing the crown all the way. But as a positive the threads seems to be a bit more effective so you only have to unscrew half to one turn in order to use the bezel. Overall a solid build that looks great on the wrist and in the watch stand.
I can’t express quite how delighted I am with my Heritage 63. Every aspect of the watch is beautifully crafted, from the superb “scales” bracelet to the bezel and timeless face. The 39mm size fits my wrist perfectly and it is going to see a lot of wrist time. Well done everyone at Yema for this lovely limited edition.
This is a beautiful faithful reissue of the early 1960s Yema Superman, which was the first 300m diver available to the mass market. The iconic dial and scales bracelet both look absolutely stunning.
When I received my LE superman scales, I was simply impressed with its simplicity and wearability of this watch. This watch is well designed, well proportioned and I find one of the best value packed LE of 2020 as far as french watch making is concerned. I am also happy that Yema continues to create numbered editions as many big producers stopped bringing numbered editions. I would hope YEMA keeps this philosophy going forward...
I discovered Yema this year and now own 3 of their watches. Although I own Rolexes and Omega, Yema gets the most comments. There’s something about the proportions and overall design of the watch that just suits my wrist. They look awesome.
