Since day one, I've been extremely happy owning a Superman! It's such a beautiful, timeless & clean design, and I can't quit staring at it. The detail and finishing is fantastic, the lume is excellent, and the domed crystal looks wonderful. As for shipping, I had no issues, and it arrived earlier than expected (which is always a plus). Also, my experience with the customer service was very positive. Can't wait to add more Yema watches to my collection!
Excellent diver, looks superb. Clear display with strong lume. Very comfortable bracelet which integrates beautifully with the watch.
The watch: The watch is great quality. The Sellita SW200-1 is a great movement found in watches that are easily hundreds of dollars above the Yema's price-point. The domed sapphire crystal gives this watch a vintage touch with the modern scratch resistance of a harder material. The finishing on the watch is really nice overall. I just wish the bracelet had a deployment clasp. However, the bracelet and crown are signed 'Y' for Yema. The bezel is sturdy and there is a little play without the clasp in the 3 o'clock position being ******* down. Overall I love the reissue of this vintage watch. The shipping: The shipping was an absolute nightmare as the watch took over a month to get to me. That part I am fine with. However, I live in America and getting it through customs was horrible. They requested information that was extremely personal, and wanted a sheet detailing the costs of all parts in the watch which Yema had to fill out. It was a fiasco and this paperwork should have been filled out prior to being shipped to me.
When I visited that auction house this spring and held the old Heuer Autavia Jochen Rindt in my hands, something must have happened in my mind. The price for the vintage piece went beyond my possibilities this day. and looking for a re-edition I found one, but it was so clumsy, it lacked all the sexiness and the elegance of the original. What was it, that caught my attention on the vintage piece? On images it was the big eyes Singer tricompax dial, but holding it in my hands it was even more the sleek and elegant shape of the case.with the sharp edged long lugs. Cleary a feature that seemed to be gone forever, like the design of an old Jaguar. Some time later I noticed an image of the YEMA Superman Heritage and I could not believe it. There was almost everything I liked in old vintage sport watches in one re-edition-watch, without false compromises. Look here, Mr. Biver, it can be done! And who else would dare to make such a thin cool bracelet nowadays? I think this will become sort of of a role model in the watch industry and other companies will follow this route, but hopefully not before YEMA have earned their fair share for their achievements. BTW: Let me suggest two improvements: Pease use Sellita top grade movements instead of the basic ones. Mine runs + 7 seconds a day, which isn't bad at all, but this great design deserves the best movement available. Second: a luxury watch has to bear a serial number. Not only the limited editions. Only a TIMEX may go without.
I find this watch to possess incredible charm and character. I love the original design and heritage. It's hard to find such a good looking watch in this price range that is not a homage to another watch.
